DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Health Physician Group is seeking a POCT Supervisor to lead operations for the ambulatory point of care testing (POCT) laboratories. This role combines supervisory leadership, operational oversight and regulatory compliance expertise to ensure the delivery of accurate, reliable, and high-quality POCT laboratory services.
The POCT Supervisor oversees technical operations, manages a team of Point of Care Coordinators, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The role includes budget oversight, process improvement, evaluation and implementation of new technologies, and direct collaboration with clinicians, nursing management, procurement team, information technology team and Epic Analysts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) license.
Nine (9) years of related experience, education / training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus (five) years of related experience / training. Related experience : clinical laboratory scientist.
Maintains current knowledge of laboratory concepts, new methodologies and advances in the field of specimen processing, automation, and procedures. Ability to apply principles in a clinical laboratory setting.
Knowledge of Clinical Laboratory, medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Thorough knowledge of all relevant sub-specialty area industry, health and safety, federal, and state regulations.
Ability to organize assigned staff and laboratory operations in an efficient and effective manner. Highly developed personal organizational skills. Knowledge of quality assurance methods and ability to apply principles to design quality systems.
Proven ability to multi-task and reliably manage multiple projects through from inception to completion on schedule in a complex, challenging environment. Flexibility to adjust to constantly changing priorities.
Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical clinical specialty concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.
Ability to use laboratory's application programs. Skills to perform data checks using queries, visual review and other appropriate means to verify data accuracy.
Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.
Interpersonal skills to independently convey information with authority, handle highly sensitive matters and interact with high level contacts from other organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory operations, quality assurance practices, and regulatory compliance (federal and state).
Strong leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills to manage laboratory functions across a wide range of clinical spaces and locations.
Proficiency in laboratory information systems and data analytics review.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for collaboration across departments.
Multitasking, embracing innovation and change management skills are key.
Lean Green Belt training and / or experience.
Knowledge of network connectivity and information security practices.
Experience with test implementation and validation of new test methods.
Experience with running training programs and tracking competencies for a large group of testing personnel.
Previous experience as a technical consultant, technical supervisor or laboratory personnel supervisor.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range : $119,400 - $230,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent : $57.18 - $110.54
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
