Insurance Authorization Specialist

Brentwood, TN | 100% On-Site

up to $21.00 / hour | Monday-Friday, Full-Time (40 hours)

Choose your shift : 7 : 00 - 3 : 30 or 8 : 00 - 4 : 30

Key Responsibilities - Insurance Authorization Specialist :

Coordinate and process insurance authorizations for behavioral health services, including outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
Communicate with insurance payers and providers to verify benefits, resolve authorization issues, and ensure timely approvals for patient care.
Review and monitor claims, authorizations, and payment statuses to support accurate and timely reimbursement.
Collaborate with the revenue cycle and accounts receivable teams to address authorization-related denials and delays.
Analyze data using Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) to identify trends in payer responses and authorization turnaround times.
Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications - Insurance Authorization Specialist :

2+ years of experience in healthcare billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle operations, with a strong preference for behavioral health experience.

In-depth understanding of insurance authorization processes, including commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare payers.

Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and comfortable working with EMR and billing systems.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing time-sensitive tasks with minimal supervision.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across clinical and administrative teams.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing payer requirements.
