Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to create, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation for our cutting-edge space systems, technologies, and mission operations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and program managers to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly materials for internal teams, customers, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including engineering specifications, test procedures, operations manuals, and product guides for space processing systems, radios and optical components.
  • Work closely with engineering, business development, and program teams to gather technical data and ensure content accuracy.
  • Write and edit documents to meet NASA, FAA, DoD, and international space industry standards (as applicable).
  • Create illustrations and diagrams in collaboration with CAD and design teams.
  • Organize and manage document control systems to ensure version accuracy, configuration management, and compliance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Review and edit engineering reports, proposals, and white papers for clarity and consistency.
  • Support proposal development by preparing technical sections for government and commercial contracts.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with ITAR / EAR export compliance and company confidentiality policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Aerospace, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical writing for aerospace, defense, or other highly technical industries.
  • Strong ability to understand and communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems (e.g., Windchill, SharePoint, Confluence).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for grammar, formatting, and details.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with space systems and satellite technology.
  • Experience with DITA / XML, LaTeX, or structured authoring tools.
  • Knowledge of NASA, DoD, or ESA documentation standards and export control regulations (ITAR / EAR).
  • Basic understanding of CAD drawings or engineering schematics.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to producing error-free, compliant documentation.
  • Salary Range : $70,000 to $95,000
