What You’ll Do :
- Be the communication hub, handling phones, emails, and internal coordination like a pro
- Keep our attorneys and paralegals organized by managing schedules, deadlines, and travel arrangements
- Prepare, proof, and organize legal documents, contracts, and filings with accuracy and efficiency
- Support client communication and follow-ups to ensure they feel heard and cared for
- Anticipate needs and take initiative to keep our operations running smoothly

Compensation : $41,600
Responsibilities :
Be willing to take on any other necessary administrative tasks to help the firm run smoothlyUse daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting departmentAssist with the creation of various litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents a neededManage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlinesPerform legal research, as needed, with help from attorneys and paralegalsHandle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails, and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, Binder prep, picking up the mail, preparing welcome boxes, keeping attorneys abreast of their scheduled court appearances as far as ensuring Zoom links are calendared if appearances are on zoom, open and close files, reminding the team of upcoming deadlinesUndertake other duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficientlyOpen and close client filesFiling for case filesHelp with the mailFiling legal documents with the CourtsSend welcome packets to new clients when askedUpdate client information in our case management systemSend appropriate cards / gifts to current clients; andOther tasks as assignedThis position is a mix of working in the office and running errands, and we anticipate that this position will begin at approximately 35-40 hours / week and has the potential to become full-time.We are a small but fully staffed law firm with three Attorneys, a case manager, three paralegals, a client impression expert, two directors of client engagement, and a billing specialist. As the Legal Office Assistant, you are here to be the go-to person for office assistance.Qualifications :
Must be able to type at least 50 WPMAbility to comfortably use all Microsoft Office productsAssociate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessarySome knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programsMust be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environmentMust be a resident of the Upper Marlboro area in Prince George’s County, MarylandMust be detail-orientedMust be patientMust be punctualMust be a notaryMust not get flustered when the day does not go the way you were expectingMust be willing to learn software applicationsMust be familiar with mail practicesMust be willing to drop everything and file documents with the CourtsMust be willing to drop everything and run unexpected errandsMust be willing to act as the backup to our Legal Intake Specialist, when necessaryMust have a valid driver’s licenseMust have a reliable vehicleMust have valid automobile insurance that includes medical coverage for yourself and others involved in a vehicle accident while you are workingMust be familiar with Google Drive and G-Suite productsPreferences
