JOB GOAL :
To increase student achievement by ensuring quality First Best Instruction is being implemented at every district school.To assist and support school leadership teams in scheduling and determining optimal instructional strategies to ensure students are reading at grade level by third grade.To collect plans for ongoing staff development for K-3 instruction and interventions using research-based best practices and differentiate based on principal / school needs at each school site.To ensure quarterly assessments identify all students who are in need of interventions.To coordinate, plan, and provide ongoing communication and training for parents through the use of School Parent Liaisons, Instructional Support Specialists, and Move on with Reading Specialists regarding Move on When Reading initiatives.To support schools with coordination of summer school, jump-start, and after-school tutoring programs that meet high expectations for monitoring, programming, and efficiency.To ensure monitoring and accountability of First Best Instruction (FBI) and school site intervention programs to meet the demands of the Move on When Reading legislation.To ensure highly effective Pyramid of Interventions (POI) are utilized prior to referral to site interventionist / Response to Interventions (RtI).QUALIFICATIONS :
Arizona certified elementary or secondary teacher.Highly Qualified elementary or secondary teacher.A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with excellent evaluations.Holds a Dyslexia Training Designee Certification or is willing to obtain this within one year of hire date.Completion of the Kindergarten Entry Assessment (KEA) training or willing to obtain within one year of hire date.Possesses collaborative leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills.Demonstrates proficiency in teaching evidenced by principal's evaluations and student achievement.Demonstrates knowledge of state and national standards and district adopted curriculum and instructional materials.Demonstrates knowledge of district assessments and can extract data to make educational decisions for student interventions.Demonstrates knowledge of and works effectively in a professional learning community.Views self as a learner and seeks professional challenges and demonstrates initiative.Demonstrates experience in cognitive coaching techniques and working with adults.Demonstrates ability to model first best instruction across content areas and is trained in research-based interventions.Demonstrates ability in working with diverse populations (ELL, Special Education, Gifted).Demonstrates ability to work with teachers across a variety of settings (ELD, Special Education, Gifted, elementary level, middle school level, self-contained middle school, fine arts).Continues professional growth through participation in educational meetings and defined professional growth opportunities, reading professional literature, and exchanging ideas with colleagues.Demonstrates ability to provide professional development for district personnel, school sites, and other stakeholders.Continues professional development in the area of research-based exemplary practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.Demonstrates ability to communicate in oral and written form.Demonstrates ability to create multiple forms of scheduling to meet student intervention needs.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develop a trusting and reflective professional partnership with school leadership teams.Provide on-site support to school leadership teams / building principals.Demonstrates and models first best instruction and interventions.Provides District-wide professional development as directed.Plans for MOWR summer school for 3rd grade students at or below the 5th percentile on the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA).Assist and support schools in developing school site intervention plans.Plan, participate in, facilitate support and training activities for Move on When Reading initiatives.Drafts District Move on When Reading letter and supports school with site-specific letter differentiated to each site intervention plan.Plans district parent liaison training that pertains to the Move on When Reading initiatives.Comply with District, state, and federal reporting processes.Continues professional growth through participation in educational meetings and defined professional growth opportunities, reading professional literature, and exchanging ideas with colleagues.Collaborates with district, school administrators, school leaders, and school specialists to provide support for intervention and Move on When Reading initiatives.Performs other work-related duties as assigned.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
