      Assignment :

      Part time, days, evenings, and weekend options for 2-10 classes per season (Spring / Summer, Fall, Winter)

      Several positions available

      Wages :

      Starting at $19.06 / hour

      Primary Objective of Positions :

      To instruct evening enrichment and / or recreation classes for adults with intellectual, developmental, sensory, cognitive and physical disabilities. To ensure a safe and fun atmosphere for all participants.

      Job Responsibilities :

    • Plan, prepare and teach classes in art, crafts, cooking, recreation, or leisure, that are specially designed and adapted to the individual abilities of Project SOAR participants.
    • Develop enriching curriculum and / or programming.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to Program Manager about class / activity outcomes and make recommendations as necessary.
    • Plan and prepare supplies and materials required to successfully teach classes.
    • Provide a safe, caring, and fun environment for participants.
    • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Job Qualifications :

    • Evidence of successful experience working with persons with disabilities.
    • Education and / or experience in special education preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge in teaching area.
    • Evidence of positive interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to adults with special needs.
    • Compassion for and understanding of adults with disabilities.
    • Evidence of successful teaching and / or program leadership.
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
    • Ability to preplan classes for a season in advance.
