Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Safety, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading continuous improvement of employee safety programs and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental laws. Responsibilities include identifying, analyzing, and establishing employee behaviors and align them with the current and any new safety policies and programs, ultimately resulting in a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. This role will assist the operational, human resources and legal teams with HSE issues including the development and delivery of employee training on HSE programs.
What You Will Do :
Workplace Safety Program :
- The main goal is to always ensure safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents in the workplace through collaboration and partnership with all employees at all levels
- Ensure the workplace safety program (policies & SOPs) are available to support a culture of safety in compliance with OSHA regulations are executed and improved upon everyday
- Evaluate effectiveness of workplace safety program, providing improvement opportunities and updates in policies, procedures, and training programs in conjunction with changes in operations.
- Develop a strong collaborative partnership with Peet’s HR and Legal teams and support when appropriate.
- Conduct job hazard analyses and enforce preventative / corrective action where HSE hazards exist.
- Partner with managers of people to ensure compliance with workplace safety program and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Partner with operations training specialists to develop, update and deliver safety training programs
- Manage and participate in a safety inspection program including influencing follow-up and enforcement on corrective actions
- Emergency Response : Respond to on-site emergencies and incidents promptly and effectively, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved.
- Health and Safety Guidance : Provide guidance to the leadership team regarding health and safety regulations in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines, recommending ways to improve safety in the workplace
- Culture of Safety : Collaborate with the leadership team and employees to cultivate a genuine culture of safety awareness and responsibility across the organization.
- Support workers' compensation management and the return-to-work program.
Compliance and reporting :
Develop and maintain safety key performance indicators and metrics for weekly and monthly reporting, in collaboration with leadership teamsSupport the Business owners in any incidents pertaining to OSHA inspections and provide an effective administrative role with Business owners, Peet’s legal and human resources teams when responding to OSHA complaints or citationsPartner with Quality Assurance teams to provide documentation for compliance auditsPartner with Operations, Legal and Human Resource teams to support an effective (return-to-work) programIn conjunction with training manager and departmental management maintain HSE records including maintenance of training and compliance documentation and other recordsOther Duties as assignedPerform incident and near-miss investigations and enforce all corrective actions are implementedLead and support safety committees and emergency response teams in Manufacturing and Distribution facilitiesWho You Are :
1-3+ years previous experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar roleDemonstrated some experience in occupational safety methods, standards and practices including OSHA and EPA standardsWorking knowledge of a safety management information systemDemonstrated experience in implementing policies, standard operating procedures through developed partnerships and influencing skillsProficient in MS and the creation and maintenance of management reportsOutstanding organizational and communication skillsCritical thinker and problem-solving skillsChange agent while demonstrating team player behaviorsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionBSc / BA in safety management or relevant field is preferredWhat Benefits do Peetniks Receive?
