Position Description :
The Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking Facilitators for our Clinical Skills and Clinical Simulation Labs. This is a part time, independent contractor position. Candidates having earned a DO or MD are eligible.
The OCOM preclinical curriculum consists of a clinical framework for the integration and application of the sciences that are foundational to understanding clinical problems. The curriculum is designed to enhance long-term memory through application, repetition and recall. As a result, students will become self-directed life-long learners that are adept at critical thinking skills.
The Clinical Skills and Clinical Simulation courses integrate selected areas of practice-based learning and improvement, systems-based practice, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, and the scientific method relating to the practice of osteopathic medicine to develop the student into a caring and competent osteopathic physician. It includes the foundational aspects of taking a patient history, performing a physical examination, using clinical reasoning to develop a differential diagnosis and identify a leading diagnosis, documenting the clinical encounter, verbally presenting a patient case and demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism and performing essential procedures.
Please note that this is not a traditional teaching position. The curriculum features principles of self-directed and active learning modalities including spaced and spiraled learning. This is not a clinical position or related to third and fourth year clinical rotations.
Labs occur on on Tuesday morning (8 am -12 pm) and Thursday Morning (8 am -12 pm) for OMS-I and Tuesday afternoon (1 pm -5 pm) and Friday morning (8 am -12 pm) for OMS-II. A commitment of 5 hours for each session is required. Training is provided.

The OCOM Lab Facilitator is an independent contractor (1099), working as a facilitator in CBL, clinical skills, OSCE, and simulation courses.
