Product Owner – Data & Analytics Focus
The Product Owner is responsible for refining requirements, validating datasets, and supporting testing activities for data-driven products and features. This role works closely with stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and cross-functional teams throughout the full SDLC to ensure features are clearly defined, testable, and aligned with both technical and business goals. The position involves hands-on exploration of data, system behavior analysis, backlog grooming, and ensuring that deliverables are accurate, actionable, and provide measurable value.
Requirements & Story Refinement
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature definitions with a focus on data requirements.
- Break down high-level features into clear, detailed, and testable technical specifications.
- Maintain documentation that supports data development work, including data flows, field definitions, edge cases, and validation rules.
Analysis & Data Investigation
Use SQL or similar query tools to analyze data, validate assumptions, and investigate feature or bug impacts.Identify trends, gaps, or anomalies in datasets that influence workflows, automation, or reporting.Partner with engineering to troubleshoot and resolve data quality or performance issues.Testing & QA Support
Work with QA to define and verify test cases against data requirements.Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by preparing realistic data scenarios and validating results.Validate production releases and assist with regression testing focused on data accuracy and integrity.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a liaison between business SMEs and technical teams, translating business needs into clear data specifications.Participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, sprint planning, and demos.Ensure traceability of features from concept through delivery and validation, especially for data-driven components.Recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements that improve data workflows, usability, and quality.Required Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.Experience :
6+ years in product ownership, business analysis, or data-focused software implementation.Experience working with analytics, data platforms, or data-driven software products.Technical Skills :
Proficiency with SQL or similar query languages.Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).Understanding of the SDLC in an Agile environment.Experience with data visualization or reporting tools is a plus.Perks & Benefits :
