The Medical Assistant provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within a busy medical oncology office / infusion center setting. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following :
Provides direct patient care under direction of provider and nurses, including but not limited to :
Vitals
Allergy & medication reconciliation
Screenings
Patient history
Health maintenance
Advance directives
Virtual health
Provides indirect patient care related to the Medical Assistant scope of education, including but not limited to :
Scheduling
Work queues / Worklists
Check in / check out
Referrals
In-basket
Chart prep
Non-clinical patient result callbacks
Prior authorizations
Transportation facilitation
Conducts point of care testing including quality control & documentation including but not limited to :
EKG
Hemoglobin A1C
Urinalysis
Hemoglobin POCT
Urine toxicity
INR
hCG
Qualifications
Education : Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic Certification OR relative experience
Experience :
In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
