Optical Engineering Manager

As we rapidly expand our operations, we're looking for a leader to oversee the design, integration and verification of our prototype systems.
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Optical Engineering Manager to lead our talented team of optical engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of laser systems, optical design, and laser materials processing. They will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge optical solutions for our next-generation semiconductor equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of optical engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Assign projects, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely and effective completion of tasks.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard new optical engineering talent.
- Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and optimization of complex optical systems for laser-based semiconductor equipment.
- Lead the development of optical specifications, tolerance analyses, and performance models.
- Ensure the integration of optical systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Drive the development of new optical technologies and solutions to meet evolving customer requirements.
- Provide technical expertise in laser systems, including laser sources, beam delivery, and laser-material interaction.
- Experience with high-power laser systems.
- Knowledge of optical alignment and calibration techniques.
- Oversee the design and implementation of laser control and monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex laser system issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, and manufacturing.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to management and customers.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets and report on project progress and team performance.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement of optical components.
- Oversee the creation of detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
