American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric RN for an acute care, trauma level 2 pediatric unit with night shifts and float requirements.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital pediatric unit with 7 bedsCare for pediatric patients ages 0-18 including med / surg overflow, NICU feeder / grower overflow, surgical, respiratory, diabetic, seizure, and failure to thrive casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2-3Night shifts are available with 12-hour shift lengthsSelf-scheduling based on seniority, with weekend shifts required every other or every third weekendFloat to Maternity / Newborn Nursery, NICU, or 1 : 1 sitting as census requiresUses Epic for chartingMust be first to float when neededRemote telemetry monitors in use, but RNs are not required to read or interpret stripsWork closely with another RN as there are typically only two nurses per shift without a designated charge nurseA pediatrician is in house daily until 5pm and on call at nightRespiratory therapists are in house 24 / 7 providing support for respiratory equipmentScrub color is flexible and any color may be wornTeam-oriented, close-knit work environment with thematic rooms and supportive atmosphereTwo 12-hour shifts of orientation providedHoliday coverage for two holidays per year is requiredUnit is locked and features zoo themed decor, play rooms, and child-friendly amenitiesAttributes contributing to success include strong communication and independence\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license (State or Compact) is required and must be obtained prior to considerationMinimum 2 years of recent pediatric or med / surg nursing experience is requiredCurrent BLS and PALS certifications requiredExperience titrating drips required; Tylenol and Keppra experience required, Insulin is preferred but not mandatoryMust be able to provide two references : one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsFamiliarity with CPAP, high flow, and nasal cannula devices preferredCandidates may not be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity, within the past yearCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityRTO requests must be submitted up front and are limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract\n Benefits\n
