Girls Excelling in Math and Science (GEMS) is a long-standing, community-based program dedicated to inspiring girls to explore, enjoy, and excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Founded more than a decade ago by passionate educators, GEMS helps close the gender gap in STEM by offering hands‑on learning experiences, mentorship, and exposure to real-world science opportunities.
Operating in schools across Prince George’s County, GEMS creates spaces where girls gain confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging in STEM. Through tutoring, mentorship, and experiential learning, the program empowers young women to see themselves as scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem solvers.
As GEMS expands through fiscal sponsorship with Charm City Impact, the organization is forming an Advisory Board to help guide its next chapter of growth, sustainability, and community impact.
