SUMMARY : The CNC Lathe Operator or Set-up Person is responsible for following prescribed standards of CNC operations, set-ups of prototype and established processes, meeting cycle times, promoting on time delivery through their performance efforts, demonstrating knowledge and application of lean manufacturing, promoting teamwork through their behavior, acting in accordance with Altek's Policies and adhering to the goals and expectations as defined by management. Available shifts are day shift and swing shift depending on production needs at the time of hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Follows the procedures set forth in the work instructions or by the Supervisor(s) and / or Lead(s)Follows prescribed standards of CNC Lathe operations and set-ups of established processesPays strong attention to detail, exhibits critical thinking skills and meets set cycle timesSets up equipment to run productionTakes an active role in organizing and improving current processes through SWI change suggestionsIs proactive in maintaining established company policies and manufacturing strategiesBuilds and maintains positive rapport, communication and behavior with other Altek employees, customers and / or suppliersAdapts and modifies as circumstances warrantDemonstrates safe work habitsInspects product according to Altek’s Quality Policies and ProceduresEmbraces Altek's Quality Policy to ensure quality to internal and external customersEmbraces Altek's vision, core values, and expected behaviorsFUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES :
Completes end-of-shift tie-in log and accurately enters part and scrap counts into PaperlessQUALIFICATIONS :
High School Diploma or GEDCNC Machining Certificate or minimum of 3 years as a Machine Shop OperatorExperience executing complex, multi-axis machine setups for high-precision jobs on Mazak and / or Mori lathes, preferredQuality-conscious attitude and pride of ownership in designated responsibilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to accurately read blueprintsSkilled with portable measuring devices used in the production processes at AltekMust be able to read and comply with work instructions, quality documents, and other pertinent written materialWorking knowledge of GD&T and calculatingWorking knowledge of mathematical formulas needed to calculate product dimensioningKnowledge and skills to pre-stage raw material, perform setups, conduct tool changes, run product and make tool off sets for proven processesShould have a reasonably complete set of personal tools to perform set-upsExperience executing complex, multi-axis machine setups for high-precision jobs on Mazak and / or Mori lathes, preferred
