Key Job Details – Pediatric Oncology RN

Location : Little Rock, AR 72202 (Arkansas healthcare jobs)

Unit : 4K Pediatric Hematology / Oncology (26 beds)

Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2,100 - $2,250

Contract Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 22 / 2025 – End : 3 / 22 / 2026)

Patient Ratio : 1 : 3-4 (no 1 : 1 assignments for travelers)

Floating : Required to other pediatric units

Orientation : 2-3 days with specialty testing

EMR : Epic

Dress Code : Facility policy

Scheduling : Manager / scheduler assigned

Weekends / Holidays : Every other weekend and holidays as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in pediatric oncology or hematology / oncology

BLS and PALS certifications required

Biotherapy Provider and APHON certification preferred

Bone Marrow Transplant experience preferred

Must pass nicotine screening (negative test required)

Must pass fit test (no facial hair unless for religious reasons)

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemption accepted with documentation)

Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills

Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations and effectively prioritize and delegate tasks

Pediatric Oncology RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric hematology / oncology patients (ages 0-21)

Administer IV medications, blood transfusions, antibiotics, stem cell infusions, and chemotherapy

Monitor and manage patients with fever, neutropenia, solid tumors, sarcoma, leukemia, chronic pain, and new diagnoses

Care for patients undergoing pediatric surgeries (e.g., resections, port placements)

Collaborate with Child Life and Education Specialists to support patients’ educational needs

Float to other pediatric units as needed

Document care using Epic EMR and adhere to facility policies and procedures

Participate in required orientation, specialty testing, and ongoing education
