Basic Function
Responsible for making tools and dies in accordance with customer requirements and specifications
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets specifications such as blueprints, job orders, sketches, or verbal descriptions and plans sequence of operations.
- Fits and assembles parts to make or repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gages, or machinist’s hand tools.
- Continually applies knowledge of tool design, shop math, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
- Uses measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, and optical comparators.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, stamping presses, milling machines, swaggers, and grinders to correct specifications.
- Verifies the part after stamping for configuration to specification.
- Designs and assembles too / s as required.
- Maintains product logs.
- Reports discrepancies to management immediately.
- Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean orderly, and safe manner.
- Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

High School Graduate or Equivalent, 4 years certified apprenticeship
Desired Experience
5 years of tool-making experience
