Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Engineer to support our Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure in-process components and finished goods meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, developing and conducting inspections, and collaborating with other departments to drive continuous improvement in product quality. Most importantly, he or she will incorporate quality and customer-focus throughout the entire process.
This full-time, exempt role will be located in Salem, NH and will report to the Director of Quality, EHS.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Assist in efforts to identify, determine, verify, and communicate product requirements throughout the production process; read and interpret engineering / technical drawings to determine inspection criteria
- Develop and maintain inspection and test plans within QMS software; perform inspections, including visual and mechanical inspections, to confirm compliance with specifications
- Program and operate Keyence image measurement equipment to support dimensional inspections; use traditional risk analysis tools such as process failure modes and effects analysis to identify and control risk
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to suppliers, engineers, and customers as required
- Assist with maintaining the Returned Material Authorization (RMA) program; evaluate customer-returned product to determine cause of nonconformances and communicate results and corrective action to the customer, as needed
- Assist with maintaining the Nonconformance (NC), Material Review Board (MRB), and Corrective Action Request (CAR) programs; collect, analyze, and present quality data using statistical methods for identifying trends, solving problems, and validating corrective actions
- Support and participate in the Internal Audit program to maintain compliance with company, registrar, and industry standards; evaluate and improve quality processes and procedures
- Use traditional problem-solving tools such as Pareto analysis, 5-Why, and cause and effect diagrams to conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive action
- Contribute to other quality control and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned
- Provide quality and design for manufactur ing inputs to product development team
- Assure product and process quality by establishing standards; develop processes and tools for product validation; confirming manufacturing processes
- Transition processes and tools from validation to in-process testing in volume manufacturing
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or other closely related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong ability to interpret technical drawings and establish inspection criteria based on specificationsHands-on experience performing visual and mechanical inspectionsProficient use of measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, and automated inspection equipmentSolid background in ISO 9001 quality standards; AS9100 experience preferredFamiliarity with quality management systems (QMS) related softwareExperience with Keyence or similar image measurement equipment preferredKnowledge of quality processes such as RMA, NC / MRB, CAR, and internal auditsExcellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear feedback to internal teams, suppliers, and customersDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and commitment to qualityPreferred Qualifications
