Job descriptionContributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the nursing process. Promotes evidence-based practice through nursing process, protocols, and procedures. Assesses patient's status via interview, observation, and physical assessment. Develops individualized plan of care collaboratively with patient / family and healthcare team. Uses appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes. Evaluates and documents patient's progress toward goals throughout the shift. Modifies plan of care based on evaluation. Completes required documentation including patient chart and event reports. Demonstrates professional accountability and seeks resources for self-development. Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting. Maintains current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. Promotes professional development of self and team members. Shares clinical knowledge through teaching and responding to learning needs. Demonstrates problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues. Promotes patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment. Obtains adequate lab specimens for testing and performs bedside lab testing with quality control. Coordinates interdisciplinary care through collaboration and resource utilization. Analyzes clinical situations systematically and acts to meet patient needs. Recognizes need for assistance and utilizes resources including physician and nurse consultation. Assumes assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management with some turnover. Prioritizes work based on patient condition changes and interruptions. Utilizes team resources to solve problems or needs. Collaborates with healthcare team in organizing tasks from admission to discharge. Works with team members in delegating tasks appropriately. Provides goal-focused shift report. Advocates with physicians on patient's behalf when necessary. Utilizes communication and teamwork strategies to promote high team performance and optimal patient outcomes. Chooses appropriate communication style when interacting with others. Gives and accepts constructive feedback to / from peers. Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to patient's / family's age-specific needs. Adapts teaching strategies based on patient's response, readiness to learn, and comprehension level. Minimum three (3) years applicable nursing experience. Fluent in English (writing, reading, comprehension, speaking). Basic computer knowledge including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browsing. Multicultural sensitivity. Critical thinking skills with independent judgment in decision making. Contract length : 13 weeks. Preferred skills : None specified.
