Waste Management Traffic Controller

Position Overview

The Traffic Controller is responsible for safely directing vehicle movement within the dump / waste facility while providing courteous, professional customer service. This position also requires accurate data entry and transaction processing using a tablet or digital system.

Key Responsibilities

Greet customers, contractors, and drivers in a friendly and professional manner

Direct incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic to designated dumping areas

Operate a tablet to input customer, load, or ticket information accurately

Verify load types and ensure proper routing based on facility guidelines

Communicate clearly with drivers to maintain safe traffic flow

Monitor site activity to prevent congestion and safety hazards

Report unsafe behavior, equipment concerns, or incidents to management

Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow facility safety procedures

Qualifications

Required :

Strong customer service and communication skills

Ability to use a tablet / computer for basic data entry

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Ability to stand for long periods and direct traffic safely

Dependable, professional, and safety-focused

Preferred (not required) :

Prior experience in traffic control, waste facilities, or customer service

Knowledge of safety protocols or flagging practices

Work Environment

Outdoor industrial setting with vehicle traffic, noise, and debris
