Bridge Project Engineer

Location : Rochester or Buffalo, NY

Workstyle : Hybrid (3 in office / 2 from home typical)

Travel : Local only

About the Role

This is a chance to work on high-impact bridge design projects that directly improve mobility and safety across the region. You’ll take ownership of detailed design phases, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and use advanced analysis techniques to bring creative and cost-effective bridge solutions to life.

The team is known for innovation in accelerated bridge construction and sustainable design, reducing closure times and long-term maintenance costs. You’ll work alongside respected experts in a collaborative, flexible environment that values problem-solving and personal growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan, design, and coordinate bridge projects from concept through delivery
  • Prepare calculations, reports, and technical documentation with strong attention to quality
  • Apply engineering best practices to ensure designs are safe, efficient, and cost-effective
  • Review and self-check work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Partner with project managers and other engineers to meet schedules and budgets
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team knowledge sharing

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 4 years of bridge design experience
  • Proficiency with Bentley Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar software
  • Strong technical judgment and familiarity with QA / QC standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership presence and collaborative mindset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Involvement in a professional engineering organization a plus
