Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating lathes, mills, and grinders to perform close-tolerance work on turbine components. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders
  • Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings
  • Machine precision parts to exact tolerances, including shafts, rotors, and casings
  • Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines and tools
  • Work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and maintain production flow
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all safety protocols

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a manual machinist
  • Strong understanding of machining practices and blueprint reading
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances (+ / - .001”)
  • Familiarity with various metals, including stainless steel and Inconel
  • Excellent troubleshooting and mechanical skills
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training a plus
  • Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in turbine or rotating equipment industries
  • Knowledge of vertical / horizontal boring mills (a plus)
  • Forklift or overhead crane operation experience
