Sr. Manager, Oncology Scientific Communications

The Sr. Manager, Oncology Scientific Communications is responsible for operational execution of key logistical tasks for major medical congresses across various therapeutic areas within Oncology. They collaborate with a team that will make sure that priority congress goals are achieved, manage multiple priorities, and provide supervision, attention to detail, and follow-up for congresses attended by key internal and external stakeholders. This role works closely with Medical Leads across priority brands and markets to ensure smooth coordination and execution.

Job responsibilities include :

  • Support medical congress strategy and provide subject matter guidance to TA / asset level teams in Medical Affairs, ensuring effective planning and execution of conferences and associated events.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders across operations, commercial, and medical for understanding and meeting all congress opportunities and deadlines.
  • Manage approved vendors to obtain resources for congresses, ensuring quality and budgetary requirements are met.
  • Support the design and adaptation of Medical Affairs booths at congresses, including innovative presentations and materials, including interactive Medical Affairs solutions.
  • Gather and share key insights to enable knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee on-site activities at select congresses to ensure flawless execution.
  • Use innovative technology to improve collaboration, simplify processes, and increase efficiency.
  • Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive internal communications plan for congresses, aligning with stakeholders for effective messaging and collection of achievement and learnings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging innovations in congresses.
  • Function as a key contributor to help design, implement, and enforce attendee management best practices and processes for internal congress participants.
  • Contribute to innovation, share best practices, and identify areas for continuous improvement across congresses and advisory boards.

Qualifications / skills include :

  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve objectives, execute on tactics, and create business impact.
  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business operations, or related field : an MBA with 6 years of relevant medical experience, PhD / PharmD with 4 years of experience, or an MD with 2 years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing medical congresses or related events.
  • Proven history in supporting teams and designing strategies to enhance engagement with Healthcare Professionals and congresses.
  • General understanding of regulatory compliance, data privacy, and industry standards related to role.
  • Demonstrate ability to work cross-functionally, engage diverse stakeholders, understand the applications of technology to the Oncology landscape.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including : the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • Physical / mental requirements include :

    Role may require extended hours of standing while onsite at congresses.

    Non-standard work schedule, travel or environment requirements include :

    Travel to support congress activities (US and ex-US) and / or attend internal meetings (~25%) and working over weekends based on congress schedules.
