As a vital member of the instructional team, the 3rd Grade Paraprofessional supports classroom teachers and the principal in fostering a positive, engaging, and effective learning environment. This role involves assisting with instruction, providing additional practice opportunities, re-teaching concepts, and supporting positive student behavior.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of a teacher, the paraprofessional will :
Support the implementation of school and district policies and procedures.
Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and staff.
Participate in planning sessions with the classroom teacher.
Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and perseverance when addressing academic, behavioral, and family-related challenges.
Provide targeted instructional support to students who need additional help in mastering the core curriculum.
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, specials, and other assigned areas.
Assist in administering and scoring assessments to monitor student progress.
Help with classroom paperwork, clerical duties, and other organizational tasks.
Carry out duties delegated by nursing staff when needed.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, and one of the following :
Completion of at least 48 semester hours at an accredited institution of higher education, or
An associate degree, or
Successful completion of the WorkKeys assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Ability to work effectively under the direction of classroom teachers and administrators.
Strong collaboration skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Willingness to take on responsibilities that align with the role and support the success of students.
Physical Requirements
This position requires active engagement throughout the day, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs). Candidates should be comfortable supervising students indoors and outdoors, navigating stairs, and providing hands-on support when needed. Clear communication, vision, and hearing are essential for maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
