As a senior expert, your role is pivotal in influencing strategy, leading excellence, and mentoring the next generation of global compliance leaders.

As a GP Compliance Expert, you are a regional or domain-level authority in payroll and employment compliance. You'll lead complex audits, shape scalable governance frameworks, and coach Specialists / Leads to elevate performance across multiple countries or high-impact regions. Your expertise will drive strategic outcomes, align global policies, and scale Remote's compliance capabilities across teams, systems, and stakeholders.

You'll deliver impact in the following areas :

  • Strategic audit ownership : Lead complex audits across multiple countries or domains with 100% on time delivery.
  • Compliance Investigations : Support compliance investigations, partnering with key stakeholders and embedding learnings / new processes to resolve as quickly as possible.
  • Governance frameworks : Design and implement scalable best practices or frameworks to elevate compliance maturity.
  • Strategic initiatives - lead strategic initiatives globally, partnering with teams such as product, engineering & customer success to embed compliance into everything we do.
  • Policy alignment : Ensure alignment with key compliance policies across countries / markets.
  • Incident resolution : Resolve high-priority risks / issues and proactively embed those learnings.
  • Documentation excellence : Maintain core compliance documentation.
  • Mentorship : Deliver mentorship or coaching as a compliance expert; improving team growth year over year.
  • Stakeholder influence : Achieve ?90% positive feedback from cross-functional stakeholders on compliance partnership.
  • Enablement & communication : Tailor messaging and materials to audience needs; support quarterly coaching / upskilling documentation.

Deep expertise in payroll, employment, and tax compliance across multiple countries or markets.

Proven track record of leading complex audits, regulatory reviews, or cross-border compliance programs.

Trusted escalation point and subject matter expert in high-risk or strategic matters.

Strategic communicator who influences stakeholders across all levels including product, legal, and senior leadership.

Confident mentor and coach with experience developing team capability through structured learning and feedback.

A systems thinker able to scale solutions, frameworks, and documentation with clarity and impact.

Adept at navigating ambiguity and fast-changing environments with adaptability and integrity.

Comfortable leading initiatives across async, multicultural, and remote-first teams.

Influence Remote's global strategy for audits, frameworks, enablement, and policy alignment.

Lead regional or cross-regional initiatives that define how global payroll compliance scales.

Mentor and develop future leaders across the compliance team.

Shape thought leadership through publications, knowledge sharing, and conference visibility.

Drive innovation in frameworks, automation, and knowledge systems that make compliance a competitive advantage.

The base salary range for this full-time position is 90,400 - 101,700 EUR. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
