Job Description Summary

A senior research investigator will support the scientific mission of the Katzen lab by designing and managing complex in vivo and in vitro projects and working with Katzen Lab technicians and postdocs to support their projects.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Lab Manager- , being responsible for lab safety, ordering lab supplies, maintaining all equipment, ensuring supplies of carbon dioxide and liquid nitrogen, maintaining all shared lab facilities (ie. tissue culture rooms, freezers), performing or assigning various lab maintenance duties, supervising shipping and receiving of materials, and on-boarding of new lab members.
  • Scientifically supporting the postdoctoral fellows and scientists in the laboratory Assisting with specific experiments such as advanced in vivo animal experiments and cell culture. They would also provide molecular biology support to these experiments including flow cytometry and cell sorting, ELISA assays, imaging, PCR
  • Supervising and training research specialists / technicians . The applicant will likely be directly supervising one or more research specialists / technicians. They will also be responsible to for training new lab members on techniques and safety issues.
  • Taking on specific projects as lead scientist - with only the supervision of the Principal Investigator, this individual will be capable of taking on a specific new project. This will involve experimental design, conduct of the studies, troubleshooting, and writing a draft of a manuscript.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and 5 years of postdoctoral experience is required.
