Pay : $21-$32 / hr

About This Role :

Fleet Technicians — also known as Automotive Maintenance and Repair Technicians or Shop Mechanics — perform critical functions related to vehicle acquisitions, pre-purchase inspections, equipment installations, routine maintenance, diagnostics, roadside assistance, and drivetrain and body repairs. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in all aspects of Coastline’s fleet operations, including diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of vehicles across multiple states.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the purchase of vehicles by researching, inspecting, and negotiating acquisitions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle interiors / exteriors and the fleet facility.
  • Equip vehicles with necessary safety hardware, video / telemetry systems, supplies, graphics, and decals.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on various systems, including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical components.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and multi-point inspections.
  • Accurately document and communicate all work performed, including time and parts used.
  • Provide roadside support to instructors, contractors, vendors, and fellow fleet team members.
  • Maintain accountability through performance metrics (e.g., punctuality, efficiency, communication, accuracy).
  • Coordinate vehicle deliveries, exchanges, and retrievals.
  • Drive varying distances to transport vehicles between locations.
  • Order, organize, stock, and ship supplies and equipment as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (2+ years preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an automotive technician, mechanic, or in a related shop environment.
  • ASE or manufacturer certifications are a plus.
  • Comfortable with technology, new platforms, and regular communication.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong documentation habits.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods in a vehicle.
  • Ability to stand for long durations and work in awkward positions.
  • Willingness to work in environments with loud noises, exhaust fumes, and various chemicals.
