Job Description

ACCOUNTABILITIES Provides database operations support, monitoring databases and backups, resolving repetitive and simple events and escalating more complex incident according to the standard operating procedures Provides production database support with specific focus on availability, capacity, performance, security and recoverability.

Performs database installation and configuration, tuning, capacity planning, health checks, backups & recovery and change management according to documented standards Troubleshoots issues with database instances, DR, replication and backups and eliminates root causes thru systematic problem management practices Provides database development / project support in compliance with database design standards.

Designs and develops database systems to meet application and business requirements across multiple platforms and computing environments.

Provides guidance on best practices and standards and supports the project teams with database related activities throughout the software development lifecycle Evaluates and certifies database technologies, while assisting in the management of vendor relationships and the definition of vendor product feature sets.

Designs, develops and drives global implementation of database standards, tools and procedures throughout the IT organization Ensures database security controls meet internal and external audit and compliance requirements.

  • Implements database technologies for global standards, data classification, and data privacy according to regulatory guidelines RESPONSIBILITIES Performs in all database management areas and applies advanced knowledge of at least one area Sets quality standards relative to all aspects of database management Consults with management to promote and develop technical enhancements Manages large, complex projects that are longer-term in nature or projects that have been identified as a critical priority for the user community;
  • leads initiatives and special projects Recognized as role model / mentor in database and business user community Evaluates and recommends the purchase and utilization of technologies such as DMBS / s, servers, extract and conditioning tools, metadata management, security tools, archival / recovery tools and data access Develops project plans for implementing data warehouses;

designs data storage and management processes for specific data warehouse projects Plans projects and oversees the tactical aspects of a data warehouse implementation and maintenance Diagnoses, resolves and implements preventive measures to prevent problems for applications and system software Analyzes and works on non-standard problems or issues that span multiple technologies, ex : browser to spindle and proposes long-term solutions and fixes Recommends and oversees implementation of system level configuration modifications Performs complex application environment builds and refreshes Creates and implements disaster recovery procedures

Must Haves : We are looking for someone with 5 plus years of strong technical skills / knowledge of all aspects of Oracle & PostgreSQL databases administration on Linux Platforms.

Installation, Patching, Code Deployments, Upgrades, Migrations, Backup, Restore and Recovery, High Availability configuration / setups, Troubleshooting production issues and Projects support.

SUMMARY

Evaluates new database technologies and tools in the industry. Sets database system administration and programming standards, applies database technology to business problems, manages development and production database environments with emphasis on security, availability, and performance.

Enables High Availability / Disaster Recovery solutions. Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.

Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms. Creates sustainable and maintainable tools to automate database provisioning, patching, monitoring, metrics, maintenance, and administration.

Enables self-service capabilities for Product teams to use. Provides database services in compliance with all audit and regulatory requirements.

Secures database systems by developing automated patching and certificate management. Proactively manages incidents via Monitoring and AI / Client.

May be responsible for technical administration of multiple enterprise application suites, such as ERP and CRM.
