Job Description
Under the Direction of the Director of Athletics this position is responsible for providing a positive, efficient and effective experience to the employees of Texas A&M University -San Antonio. The Athletics Business Manager is responsible for assisting in developing, maintaining and implementing a highly efficient, organized and professional department.
Responsibilities:
Support the department across the spectrum of business processes.
Manage all day-to-day business paperwork including expense reports, purchase orders, and help in monitoring expenses and revenues for athletic programs and events.
Produce financial reports as needed to include producing data for any number of required compliance documents.
Assist in managing various athletic events to include ticket sales and processing.
Communicates with vendors with regards to all purchases made through the athletic department
Act as a liaison between the Athletic Department and various offices within the institution to include procurement, student business, human resources, etc.
Assists in coordinating modes of travel (bus, vans, air, etc.) for athletic teams.
May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Sports Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience working within athletics at an NAIA and or NCAA institution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work independently once given a project.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Extensive knowledge and skills in budget development and management.
Considerable knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
Other Requirements:
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Travel and work beyond normal office hours and/ or work weekends.
This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
This position may supervise employees, particularly student employees.
