Shop Laborer / Yard Person

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Shop Laborer / Yard Person is responsible for supporting equipment maintenance and daily operations. Responsibilities include assisting mechanics, keeping the shop organized, handling materials, staging equipment (training provided), and performing yard upkeep. The role also involves basic equipment inspections and supporting various departments as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Assist mechanics with maintenance and basic repairs of heavy construction equipment
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and stocked with tools and materials
• Move and stage equipment using forklifts or skid steers (training provided if needed)
• Load / unload deliveries and handle materials
• Maintain order in the yard; perform yard upkeep like sweeping or snow removal
• Conduct basic inspections and report equipment issues
• Support other departments and tasks as assigned
