Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Rehab position in a Level 2 trauma setting requiring a CA RN license and strong neuro / rehab skills.
Responsibilities
Work in an Acute Rehabilitation Unit within a hospital environment36 licensed beds with a patient ratio of 1 nurse to 5 patientsCommon patient population includes post-stroke, spinal cord and brain injuries, orthopedic surgeries, amputations, MS, Guillain-Barré, and tracheostomiesNight shift position with 12-hour shifts, including every other weekendFloating required to 4G, 4Farr, and Tele units as neededUse of Cerner EMR for documentationSome ventilator (bipap / cpap, trachs) casesSupport from nurse aides, rehab aides, shift manager, pharmacy, and RT available 24 / 7Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy available on unitResponsible for managing a caseload of complex neuro and rehabilitation patientsSupport staff includes nurse aides and a shift manager who does not take patient assignmentsCandidates may not have been employed directly by a CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearFloor-specific orientation typically provided over 3-4 shiftsNavy scrubs are requiredMust cover one major and one minor holiday during both winter and summer seasonsFirst to float policy applies to travelersNo IV team in-house; nurses manage IV careRelias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing may be required as part of orientationRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of RN experience in rehab and / or ortho / neuro medsurg settingsCurrent certifications required : BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS, and NIHSSExtensive experience with spinal cord and brain injury patients requiredRehab nursing certification preferredTravel nursing experience preferredExperience with Cerner charting preferredReferences required : one recent supervisor from past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from last 3 years with dates of employment and rehire eligibilityCopy of driver’s license required for considerationBenefits
