Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist for a full-time, on-site position at our Fife, WA location. The working hours are from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM. The role requires a pre-employment drug and background check. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing and reviewing weekly payroll for all hourly and salaried employees using ADP Workforce Now.
Responsibilities
Ensure payroll accuracy by verifying hours, earnings, deductions, bonuses, and adjustments. Manage payroll compliance with a strong understanding of Washington wage and hour laws, overtime rules, and state / local tax regulations. Maintain payroll records and ensure timely updates to employee data, tax information, and direct deposits. Collaborate with HR and Accounting to reconcile payroll data, benefit deductions, and general ledger entries. Respond promptly to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality. Support quarterly and year-end activities including W-2s, tax filings, and audits. Stay current with payroll-related laws and ADP system enhancements to ensure continued compliance and efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
2-3+ years of payroll processing experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. Strong proficiency with ADP (Workforce Now preferred). Experience processing payroll following Washington laws and regulations. In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour compliance, and tax regulations. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with large data sets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to confidentiality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of California laws and regulations is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with Excel pivot tables and PowerBi. Experience with payroll software. Work Environment A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and vapor from coolant. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Fife, Washington. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
