Our three early childhood education brands are Childcare Network, Sunrise Preschools, and My Small Wonders. We have a great opportunity for a Director, Government Relations to join our growing company!

The Director, Government Relations will lead our efforts in securing funding through grants and advancing our advocacy initiatives. This role is essential for expanding our impact, ensuring financial sustainability, and influencing policies that benefit children and families. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in grant writing, a deep understanding of the childcare sector, and a passion for advocacy work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Social Work, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing and advocacy, preferably within the childcare or early education sector.
  • Proven success in securing grants from a variety of sources.
  • Strong understanding of the policy landscape related to childcare and early childhood education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to the company’s mission.

Responsibilities

Grants Management :

  • Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Develop and write compelling grant proposals and applications to secure funding.
  • Manage the grant submission process, including timelines, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with grantors, ensuring compliance with grant guidelines and effective communication.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships with Operations and cross functional team across the organization
  • Advocacy and Policy :

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to advance the company’s mission and policy goals.
  • Monitor and analyze policy developments related to early childhood education and childcare.
  • Represent the company in meetings with policymakers, stakeholders, and advocacy groups.
  • Coordinate and lead advocacy campaigns, including grassroots mobilization and coalition building.
  • Collaboration and Leadership :

  • Work closely with the executive team to align grant and advocacy efforts with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with program staff to understand funding needs and develop grant proposals that support programmatic priorities.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff involved in advocacy and grant-related activities.
