GEM Service is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Specialist II to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of building automation systems to optimize energy efficiency, improve comfort, and enhance building performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and detect malfunctions.
  • Determine operational status of systems and ensure proper installation of components.
  • Review plans, specifications, and design to understand project scope.
  • Perform point-to-point verification and test components for proper functioning.
  • Diagnose, test, and analyze performance of system components and assemblies.
  • Operate standard or specialized testing equipment and ensure sensor location and functionality.
  • Create images for wiring diagrams, designs, and system dashboards.
  • Present designs and reports to customers or design committees for approval and discuss required modifications.
  • Discuss and troubleshoot heating or cooling system malfunctions and recommend preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Adjust system controls to meet GEM standards and ensure optimal performance.
  • Record and report time, materials, faults, and deficiencies on work orders.
  • Complete customer service and expense reports.
  • Provide sketches for changes in field design as directed.
  • Instruct individuals on proper tool operation and effective implementation of ideas.
  • Mentor team members throughout the workday and suggest efficiency improvements.

Skills

  • Familiarity with BACnet systems and integration concepts.
  • Knowledge of BAS optimization and energy management strategies.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems / controls and building automation functions.
  • Control theory and concepts.
  • Reading blueprints and interpreting specifications.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Multi-task efficiently.
  • Attention to safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (preferred).

    • Education and Experience

  • 5–10 years of proven experience designing, implementing, and installing building controls systems.
  • Experience with computer networks and internet protocols.
  • Tridium Niagara 4 Certification (required).
  • Distech 6001 Certification (beneficial).
