Office Support Specialist
The Wyoming Department of Corrections Field Services Division is seeking a candidate for a full-time office support specialist. This position performs various routine and detailed clerical and administrative functions to further the overall office operations of the Probation and Parole Offices. This position necessitates consistent, professional interaction with staff, offenders, victims, the public, the judicial system, law enforcement, local organizations, and public / private service providers. Essential functions include acting as a specialist in an assigned program area, performing the most complex technical duties, including legal secretary responsibilities; performing, leading, or supervising various moderate to complex program and operational support duties; applying knowledge of programmatic and administrative requirements; resolving problems and making recommendations for improvements; performing specialized tasks; coordinating general office functions; conducting research and troubleshooting office systems; coordinating and / or acting as a liaison between the agency and other agencies; processing monthly electronic filing; maintaining financial or other records; assisting in budget development; accurately maintaining agency files; preparing reports; responding to requests for information; screening and correcting documents; providing customer service; performing administrative duties; resolving light computer issues; maintaining and reviewing case files; and assuring the procurement process is managed appropriately.
Preference may be given to those with at least two years of work experience in an office environment and those with prior criminal justice exposure. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and policies, technical processes, and procedures related to the department; financial record keeping and reporting principles and procedures; employee supervision, training, and evaluation; customer service techniques; and computer application systems is required. Minimum qualifications include an associate's degree and 0-1 year of progressive work experience or 2-4 years of progressive work experience with acquired knowledge at the level of an office assistant.
Physical working conditions typically involve sitting comfortably, but there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile.
