JOB TITLE : Dental Maintenance Technician
DEPARTMENT : Clinic
SUMMARY : The Dental Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing, all orthodontic equipment to ensure safe operation and optimal performance accordance with OSHA guidelines. This role requires strong technical and mechanical skills and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct routine inspections on all operatory and laboratory equipment to ensure safety and efficiency, including but not limited to : dental chairs, x-ray and imaging equipment, orthodontic handpieces, curing lights, autoclaves, air compressors and vacuum systems, and waterline systems
- Respond promptly to service requests from faculty and clinical staff; troubleshoot any mechanical, electrical, or software issues with equipment including digital imaging systems
- Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including maintenance schedules, completed repairs, and equipment performance logs
- Serve as a liaison with 3rd party vendors and manufacturers for specialized repairs or warranty on equipment
- Support and oversee installation and calibration of new dental or orthodontic equipment
- Establish and implement repair protocols to contribute to the development of best practices within the clinic
- Provide user training or guidance to all faculty, residents, and clinical staff
- Maintain current and extensive knowledge of OSHA, CDC, and institutional safety protocols
- Anticipate and communicate any equipment issues or potential safety hazards to the Director of Clinical Operations and Director of Clinics to minimize clinic disruptions

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS :
Required : High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years of related experience and / or trainingPreferred : CDT or CMRT licensePreferred : Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or universityComputer skills required : Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Computer Skills preferred : Dolphin, Microsoft Dynamics CRM
