Position Summary : The Shipper II is responsible for the accurate picking, packing, preparation, verification, and processing of shipments to ensure compliance with all company, customer, and Government requirements and expectations are met. This is a mid-level position, gaining experience within the Shipping department that typically requires 1+ years of experience. The Shipper II will work both independently and in a team environment with Logistics team members, leads, supervisors, managers, Engineers, internal customers, and external areas such as Freight Forwarders.
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Independently and accurately ship products to internal and external customers using ShipConsole and Oracle EBS. Ensure timely execution of shipping paperwork, organize records, verify items, and assist with packaging and labeling.
- Manage the preparation and verification of outgoing shipments, including HAZMAT materials, ensuring that all necessary labels are affixed, and correct packing requirements are met. Ensure compliance with shipping procedures and ISO standards for both domestic and international shipments.
- Ammo Division only : Must be able to properly, accurately, and independently prepare, complete, and communicate all necessary Dangerous Goods documents such as the DGD (Dangerous Goods Declaration for air shipments and the IMODGD (International Maritime Organization Dangerous Goods Declaration) for ocean vessels.
- Independently and in team environment accurately pick work and sales orders, fulfill requests, put away materials, and ensure material is delivered to proper locations in a timely manner and accurate transaction are completed. Assist with identifying and correcting discrepancies in inventory.
- Accurately and properly secure correct shipping labels, HAZMAT labels, and packing lists on completed packages and cartons. Accurately record information such as item number, lot number, weight, number of packages, etc. with 100% accuracy.
- Correctly assemble containers and insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective cushioning. Verify and keep organized records of outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. Verify items picked on sales order tickets and check shipments to ensure little to no void space. Wrap and bind containers using pallet wrapping machine and strapping equipment.
- Visually inspect materials, products, and containers for proper packing technique and damage. Accurately verify item numbers, lot number, quantities, and number of packages.
- Ready, willing, and able to properly train new hires.
- Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
- Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
- Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
- Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and / or facilities depending on business needs.
- May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education / Experience & Skills :
High school diploma or equivalent required; or related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1+ years of Shipping experience required.Ability to use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, PITs, and MEWPs.PIT and MEWP operation capability required.Ammo Division only : DOT-Hazardous Materials Non-Bulk training (HM 126-F), IATA-International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods training, IMDG-International Maritime Dangerous Goods training, DOT Hazmat Surface Modes training, DOT, IATA, IMDG RADIOACTIVE EXCEPTED PACKAGING (CLASS 7 RADIOACTIVE) required.Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel) experience required. Advanced knowledge of Logistics Shipping Oracle transactions, ability to perform these transactions independently and accurately.Ammo Division only : Advanced knowledge of other shipping programs such as FedEx.com, FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, and ShipHazmat required.Frequently demonstrate mutual help within the department.Operate independently at a high level to identify and complete, in a timely manner, all required tasks as directed by business unit needs. Require no supervision and / or little direction to determine what tasks are necessary and does not waste time or neglect tasks.Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems. Able to offer solutions to common problems. Demonstrate critical-thinking skills and good judgement.Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, in English, both verbally and in written form.Working Conditions :
Regularly perform repetitive tasks.Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and / or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.Ammo Division only : Must be capable of working in non-climate-controlled environments in extreme heat (98+ degrees) for extended periods of time.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law.
