About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Experience : Minimum 1 year of experience required in outpatient oncology clinic

License : Must have a current nursing license valid in the state of practice

Certifications : BLS, Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required

Must-Have :

• Experience in outpatient oncology clinic
• OCN certification
• Accessing ports and administration of chemotherapy
• Phlebotomy skills
• Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• Knowledge of cancer care management

Description :

The position is in an outpatient oncology unit.

No infusion experience is required.

The unit focuses on the care and management of patients with various types of cancer.

The nurse will be responsible for patient assessments and developing care plans.

Administration of chemotherapy will be a primary duty.

Experience with central line care and medication tolerance assessments is essential.

Nurses will monitor chemotherapy effects and manage side effects for patients.

The unit provides interdisciplinary support including social services and pharmacy.

Candidates will need to have skills in wound care and manage alterations in skin and mucous membranes.

The patient population primarily consists of adults and geriatrics.

Patients may have complex diagnoses associated with hematology and oncology.

Additional skills in managing peripheral intravenous access and education on chemotherapy will be required.

Nurses may float within their scope if necessary.

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in charting, particularly using electronic health record systems.

The selected candidate will be expected to adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
