Portfolio Construction

This role influences the growth of assets under management and, by developing and executing the investment strategy, plays an integral role in delivering financial well-being to clients. It also defines the client experience, being very impactful for clients as it has primary responsibility for generating investment performance and mitigating risk.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Generates investment performance in excess of strategies' benchmarks, while meeting objectives of mitigating risk and displaying prudent judgment; contribute to attainment of clients' long-term financial goals.

Anticipates and adapts to changing markets by offering and evolving investment solutions that meet the needs of clients and business partners.

Constructs the framework for development and enhancement of high quality portfolio construction strategies; create the necessary bandwidth to execute goals in a scalable and efficient manner, while adhering to established guidelines.

Plays lead role in creating and launching new products; develop and execute action plans to accomplish projects and facilitate growth.

Partners in development of internal and external communications pertaining to investment strategy, philosophy, and market developments to educate business partners and clients, while helping to enhance TIAA's presence.

Cultivates relationships with business partners by identifying and addressing their needs and emphasizing collaboration to leverage contributions across teams and facilitate positive outcomes for clients.

Maintains responsibility for fiduciary principles relative to portfolio construction and the investment management function; guide risk management considerations and contribute to compliance initiatives.

Required

5+yrs Experience building and managing multi-asset class portfolios designed to meet specified objectives in a wealth management environment

Experience selecting active managers across all major asset classes

Experience with finding and capitalizing on sources of excess return : both long-term structural sources and tactical opportunities

Preferred :

Ability (or willingness to quickly learn) to write code (e.g. Python, R, Matlab)

Experience utilizing alternatives in a mass affluent setting (e.g. 40-act vehicles)

Experience with direct indexing, ideally overlaying active / thematic tilts

Experience with one or more risk models (e.g. Bloomberg PORT, Barra)

Ability to collegially debate investment concepts, theory, and application.

Experience creating and managing data that occasionally drives very large trades

Strong Excel skills

Base Pay Range : $140,000 / yr - $200,000 / yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
