Keish Environmental Is Hiring : Deputy Planning and Engineering Director

Are you an experienced environmental professional with a passion for navigating the complexities of construction compliance and environmental regulations? Keish Environmental is looking for a highly skilled Deputy Planning and Engineering Director to join our team and ensure the successful execution of critical environmental permitting processes.

About the Role

The Deputy Planning and Engineering Director supports the planning, sustainability, environmental, and engineering programs within the Planning and Engineering Office. The Deputy Director supports the front-end elements of construction projects, overseeing the collaboration of all stages from conception through design and construction. This position assists with oversight of monitoring and maintaining the consistency and compliance of engineering design documents. Additionally, the Deputy Director provides advice on environmental strategy and guidance, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations for construction projects. They also work closely with the Construction and Rail Operations Offices to develop systems-related policies and oversee the design and development of station areas and alignments.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the front-end elements of construction projects : Ensure smooth execution from conception through design and construction
Support development, maintenance and enforcement : engineering design guidance documents, including design criteria, technical specifications, and engineering management plans. Provide strategic environmental guidance, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and assisting with necessary federal and state approvals for construction projects
Collaborate : Work with the Construction and Rail Operations Offices to develop and implement systems-related policies, including those related to integration and system certification.
Stakeholder Coordination : Support the design, planning, and commercial development of station areas, alignments, and support all construction-related inquiries. Supporting the finishing checkpoint to collaborate on all infrastructure engineering issues, ensuring designs meet Authority requirements and standards

What You Bring

Experience : A Bachelors degree in engineering, planning, or a related field (Masters preferred) with least 12 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.

Knowledge : Extensive experience in overseeing engineering and planning operations, ensuring compliance with established standards. Strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability initiatives, and infrastructure design.

Leadership and Coordination : At Minimum of 4+ years of leadership experience. Proven ability to manage teams or projects in planning, engineering, or auditing, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and ensure timely compliance across complex projects. Extensive experience in overseeing engineering, and planning operations, ensuring compliance with established standards.

Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise compliance documents and engage with regulatory agencies effectively.

Problem Solving : A solution-oriented mindset with the ability to address compliance challenges and resolve issues promptly.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant engineering certifications

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar project management credential

Proven experience in managing public sector planning and engineering projects or working with government agencies

Expertise in environmental compliance and sustainability practices in infrastructure development

Strong knowledge of systems integration, network integration, and system certification processes

Familiarity with advanced project management software (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project) and engineering design tools
