Overview : Smoke on the Water, a premier restaurant and event venue overlooking the picturesque Okauchee Lake, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager / Events & Catering Director. This role also shares Assistant Manager coverage for Sloppy Joe's Restaurant in Hubertus, WI.

The role is integral to ensuring the seamless execution of weddings, corporate events, and special occasions. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will grow within our organization that puts a huge emphasis on quality, team-member relations, coaching for excellence, building relationships and growing the Okauchee market.

Responsibilities :

Assist the Events and Catering Director in planning, organizing, and executing events, including weddings, corporate gatherings, and other special occasions.

Coordinate with clients to understand their event requirements, preferences, and budget.

Manage event logistics, including venue setup, catering, decorations, and audiovisual equipment.

Supervise and coordinate event staff, including servers, bartenders, and setup crews, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to event timelines.

Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and services.

Oversee the preparation and presentation of food and beverages, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene.

Assist in the creation of event proposals, contracts, and detailed event plans.

Maintain accurate records of event details, client interactions, and financial transactions.

Handle any on-site issues or emergencies that may arise during events.

Provide exceptional customer service to clients and guests, addressing any concerns or requests promptly and professionally.

Assist with marketing and promotional activities to attract new clients and bookings.

Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.

2+ years of experience in event planning, catering, or a related role.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.

Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.

Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
