Loan Assistant II
The Loan Assistant II is responsible for assisting commercial lenders. This position verifies, compiles, and completes loan applications. The Loan Assistant II prepares new loan requests to submit to loan processing and reviews the loan file to verify that data is complete and meets established standards. This position processes documentation of loans and extensions, closes and prepares loans for booking, and computes payment and interest.
Essential duties and responsibilities include : reviewing completed loan offers for accuracy, ordering supporting documentation, submitting loan offers to loan operations, performing pre-funding reviews, closing loans if needed or funding loans, preparing loan packages for shipping and booking, pulling maturity and past due reports, informing officers of required documentation for loan renewals, preparing basic loan offering memorandums, assisting in clearing collateral / credit exceptions, processing draw requests / loan payments / transfers, handling loan research issues / questions, forwarding documents to loan operations for scanning, completing required BSA / AML training and other compliance training as assigned, and performing any other related duties as required or assigned.
The qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or GED, plus specialized schooling and / or on the job education in a specific skill area, and five years of related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Communication skills, mathematical skills, critical thinking skills, and software skills required include the ability to read and understand documents, write routine reports and correspondence, add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, and utilize common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Preferred qualifications include a Notary Public license.
Working conditions are somewhat disagreeable, with continuous exposure to noise, intermittent standing, walking, and occasional pushing, carrying, or lifting. The work environment is usually moderate in noise level, and the physical activities required include sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, talking or hearing, and occasionally standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Additional information includes previous loan or loan documentation experience, a good understanding of financial institution products and services, time management skills, excellent proof-reading skills and attention to detail, strong team player, and basic computer proficiency.
