Title : Sterile Processing Coordinator
Location : Long Beach, CA
Duration : 13 weeks (Contract-to-Permanent Opportunity)
Shift : Evening Shift, 2nd Shift (15 : 00 – 23 : 30)
Job Responsibilities :
Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to all quality and safety standards.Oversee the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.Ensure compliance with ANSI / AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), and internal SOPs.Conduct and review quality assurance audits, verifying proper documentation and record-keeping.Train, mentor, and evaluate sterile processing technicians, promoting professional growth and competency.Manage equipment functionality, calibration, and preventive maintenance in collaboration with technical support teams.Partner with leadership on staffing schedules, timekeeping, and performance management.Collaborate with surgical services, operating room staff, and other departments to ensure timely instrument availability.Maintain a safe and compliant environment by enforcing infection control and occupational safety standards.Support inventory management, including monitoring supply levels and coordinating reorders.Participate in continuous quality improvement and KPI monitoring initiatives.Provide direct supervision for all sterile processing staff during assigned shift and serve as the primary contact for operational issues.Required Skills & Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of sterile processing or central service experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.Strong knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and regulatory compliance.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Proficient in quality audits, staff training, and workflow management.Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Certifications :
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) – requiredBLS Basic Life Support - requiredCIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) – preferred
CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) – preferred
High school diploma or equivalent – required
College degree or 3+ years of leadership experience – preferred
