Production Supervisor - Powder Coat
Position Summary :
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Powder Coat Supervisor to lead our first-shift powder coating operations and support smooth handoff to second shift. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in powder coating processes, equipment operation, and quality standards. This position is responsible for overseeing daily production, maintaining equipment and chemical systems, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and driving continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and throughput.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily powder coating operations on first shift, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.
- Oversee operation of Nordson powder coating systems, automatic wash booth, and curing ovens.
- Conduct routine chemistry checks (pH, conductivity, concentration, etc.) for pre-treatment systems, adjusting as necessary to maintain coating performance.
- Serve as primary contact with Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) for permits, sampling, and reporting related to finishing operations.
- Lead, train, and support powder coating team members, ensuring proper procedures, safety practices, and equipment use.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of powders, chemicals, and related supplies.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues with coating equipment, ovens, conveyors, and wash booths.
- Inspect coated parts for finish quality, adhesion, thickness, and overall appearance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Partner with production planning, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow and effective shift transitions.
- Support process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
Qualifications :
3+ years of experience in powder coating operations, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role preferred.Strong knowledge of powder coating application techniques, pre-treatment processes, and curing systems.Experience with Nordson powder coating equipment and automatic coating lines strongly preferred.Familiarity with chemical monitoring, wastewater requirements, and environmental compliance (MMSD or similar agencies).Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and technical specifications.Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.Compensation details : 65000-72000
