About The Position

Description :

A leading hospital in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon for locum call coverage with an immediate need. This is a high-priority, ongoing opportunity that may include some weekday vacation coverage in addition to weekends. The role involves managing complex adult cardiac cases at a Level I Trauma Center.

📋 Job Responsibilities :

24-hour call coverage : Friday–Sunday, occasional weekday calls (6am–6am).

Oversee ICU patients and admissions; supervise mid-level providers.

Handle 1–2 surgeries, 1–2 admissions, and 8–10 ICU patients / day.

No other thoracic surgeons on call; must be fully independent.

Use Epic EMR.

⏰ Working Hours :

24-hour call shifts (6am–6am)

Primarily weekends, with occasional weekday vacation coverage

Ongoing need starting as soon as credentialed (approx. 90 days)

💡 Skills :

Expertise in complex cardiac and thoracic surgeries

High acuity decision-making under pressure

Independent management of ICU and OR cases

Proficiency in Epic EMR and critical care interventions

Ability to supervise mid-levels and work solo during call

Job Requirements

🎓 Qualifications :

Board Certified in Cardiovascular Surgery – REQUIRED

Active CO License or IMLC – REQUIRED

5+ years experience in cardiac surgery – REQUIRED

Proof of recent dissections in Excel format – REQUIRED

Strong surgical case volume – REQUIRED

Clean background / no malpractice – REQUIRED

ACLS & BLS (AHA) – REQUIRED or willing to obtain

Fully COVID-19 vaccinated – REQUIRED
