Description :
The production engineer acts as an experienced technical resource for plant operations in a modern Chlor-Alkali production facility, applying technical skills to optimize plant performance, resolve problems, and enable safe and environmentally acceptable production of low cost, quality products. Solid technical skills combined with excellent communication, organizational ability, and leadership attributes are key to both immediate and long-term success in the role. Job level accounts for industry and plant experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Apply chemical engineering principles to provide technical guidance and process optimization, with a strong focus on process safety and reliability.
- Optimize daily production to achieve business and plant goals (i.e. EH&S, quality, reliability, cost).
- Monitor and enhance plant production capacity, providing insights into asset utilization for areas of responsibility.
- Assist in developing and updating Unit Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance operational standards across assigned plant areas.
- Deliver internal technical training sessions to enhance the knowledge and skills of operational personnel.
- Lead and mentor teams in advanced troubleshooting techniques, promoting the development of problem-solving skills within the workforce.
- Engage as a process owner resource in assigned areas of responsibility for daily maintenance and turnaround activities.
- Serve as a liaison with contractors and vendors as needed, acting as the process or project owner.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing production efficiency and optimizing resource utilization.
- Initiate management of change (MOC) for process design and implementation of minor plant system changes including small equipment additions, modifications, and / or removals.
- Support Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active collaboration on project teams.
- Collaborate with Technology Group to identify, prioritize, and implement large capital plant improvements.
- Collaborate with project coordinators on large-scale plant system modifications, contributing to operational reviews, cost-benefit analyses, and participation in Hazard Reviews.
- Represent production (manufacturing) in the commissioning of new process equipment installations, ensuring seamless integration into existing operations.
- Lead and participate in root cause analysis / investigation (RCA / RCI) efforts for unplanned reliability and safety events and ensure the implementation of
- corrective and preventative actions.
- Support plant leadership by providing technical and operational insights on material balances, production yields, and project design scopes, ensuring operational safety and reliability.
- Share on-call responsibilities with the technical team, ensuring continuous support for plant operations.
- Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site.
- Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) operational standards, fostering a safe and sustainable working environment.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures, while actively supporting the company's Operations Strategy.

Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringPreferred manufacturing / plant operation experience in a Chlor-Alkali, bleach production facility and / or experience with chlorine scrubbersPreferred Years of Industry Experience (conditionally dependent on performance evaluations and / or prior work history) :
