The Prescott Campus Safety & Security Department is seeking dedicated and professional Armed Officers to join our team. As front-line representatives of the department, Armed Officers play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the campus community. This position is responsible for life safety, emergency response, and the protection of university assets, facilities, and property.

Key Responsibilities :

Enforce university policies and support a secure campus environment.

Respond to service calls, including fire, medical, mental health, and critical incidents.

Collaborate directly with students, staff, and faculty to build trust and enhance safety.

Operate within assigned shifts with flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Support operations in the Communications Center when required.

Participate in campus events as part of the department’s community policing philosophy.

Requirements :

Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Department of Public Safety unarmed and armed guard cards.

Meet departmental standards for physical fitness, firearms qualification, and defensive tactics proficiency

The hourly pay for this position is $17.50 with a $2.50 armed differential for a total hourly pay of $20.00.

Qualifications

High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math

1 - 3 years required of related work experience

Required licenses, certificates, and / or security clearances :

No felony convictions, must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Valid Arizona Driver’s license, Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence) :

More than 3 moving violations and / or accidents in 3 years

More than 2 moving violations and / or accidents in any 1 year

A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and / or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.

AZ DPS unarmed and armed guard cards.

CPR / AED

Must pass annual department physical fitness assessment and firearms qualification standards.
