Licensed Veterinary Technician

• We are an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited 4 doctor, small animal and exotic animal practice in the beautiful Hudson Valley of NY that is dedicated to excellent patient care, outstanding customer service and client education. We are currently seeking team-oriented, highly motivated and compassionate applicants for the position of Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). We love what we do and we are a fun team who care about each other and our patients. We are looking for the right individual to add to our team.

You have a genuine appreciation for creatures of all shapes and sizes. Respect and courtesy toward clients and co-workers is essential, and you share the common goal of excellent patient and client care. You are dependable, compassionate and able to multi-task. You will need the ability to respond calmly and quickly in a medical emergency. You must be willing to learn new things, there is always something new to learn in veterinary medicine and have a flexible schedule. All pets must be treated with kindness and respect at all times. Strong skills in surgery, anesthesia monitoring and post operative recovery is preferred. Prior experience with exotic animals is desired, but not required as we are happy to train you.

_Job Requirements and Responsibilities : _

Current New York State License for Veterinary Technology is required.

Animal restraint and handling; cleaning; assisting veterinarian with patient care, treatment and surgery; monitoring hospitalized and anesthetized pets; preparing prescriptions; performing routine in-house lab work; and communicating with clients regarding medications and client education. Applicants need basic computer skills, excellent customer service skills and a pleasant, professional personality for greeting pets and educating clients. Strong skills in anesthesia monitoring and post operative recovery is preferred. Prior experience with exotic animals is desired, but not required as we are happy to train you.
