About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 2 years of hospital surgical experience

License : Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated

Certifications : Graduate of a surgical tech program, BLS (AHA)

Must-Have : Experience in general surgery, urology, gynecology, ENT, and DaVinci robotic cases. Must be fully independent with the DaVinci robot.

Description :

The unit operates with a total of 14 surgical suites for general surgery.

The average number of cases performed daily ranges from 20 to 40 for general surgery.

Common surgical cases include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic colon resection, laparoscopic appendectomy, cystoscopy, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular surgeries, ENT procedures, and urology.

Scrubbing duties are required for this position.

Registered Nurses will also have scrubbing responsibilities.

A charge nurse is present on each shift to assist with cases.

Operating Room technicians are part of the surgical team.

The electronic medical record system used is Epic.

Shifts may vary and include a range of start and end times throughout the week.

Call requirements include 1-2 call shifts per week, with up to 8 hours of call expected.

Call hours will be assigned and may occur in the evening and overnight.

A sleep policy allows for 8 hours off if the technician works more than 4 hours after 2300.

Every third weekend is required, which includes a full weekend of work.

No holiday shifts are scheduled.

Call response time is set at 30 minutes.

Technicians may float to assist other surgical teams or sterile processing if qualified.

Hospital-provided scrubs must be worn during shifts.

Unit-specific orientation includes a week of hands-on scrubbing experience with an established surgical technician.
