Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient Surgical Unit provides professional nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including those recovering from abdominal and other general surgical procedures. The RN is responsible for comprehensive patient care from admission through discharge while maintaining patient safety, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based nursing practices.
This unit supports a variety of post-surgical patients who may require wound care, pain management, and ongoing monitoring after recovery from the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio : Up to 7 : 1

Qualifications
- Experience : Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required (experience from Home Health, LTAC, Skilled Nursing, Outpatient Rehab, or Corrections accepted). Acute care experience is not required.
- Education : Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Licensure : Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or multistate compact license (must obtain state license within 60 days if relocating).
- Certifications :
Basic Life Support (BLS) - required prior to start (AHA provider).
NIH Stroke Scale - must be obtained within 30 days of employment.Basic Cardiac Life Support - must be obtained within 30 days of employment.Skills & Abilities
Strong clinical judgment and prioritization skills, comfortable managing up to 7 patients per shift.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to provide post-surgical education and wound care.Commitment to teamwork and high-quality, patient-centered care.Interview Requirements
