BlueStar Resort & Golf - Central Services Main Office

BlueStar is a boutique management firm focused on supporting developers, asset managers, and community Boards in the successful operation of their resort and golf amenities. Our expertise is in all aspects of hospitality management, including golf, spa, food & beverage, community clubs, and more, particularly in active adult or age-qualified residential communities. We also provide full-scale landscape services in some locations. Our portfolio spans literally from coast to coast, with many beautiful locations in between.

Where : Located in Scottsdale, Arizona

Benefits :

New management full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following the first day of full-time employment.

Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off ("PTO") in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.

Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Senior Staff Accountant holds an essential leadership role, mentoring the staff accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. This position involves overseeing accounting functions, supporting financial results, and collaborating with colleagues and clients to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy. This position reports to the Director of Finance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Maintain effective communication with all team members to maintain a smooth, informed, and consistent atmosphere related to office functions.
  • Daily interaction with clients, with high degree of service.
  • Employee recruitment and supervision in accordance with BSRG policies.
  • Provide leadership and hold team members accountable to assigned responsibilities.
  • Participate in creating and monitoring the annual budgets to ensure they are within the established financial goals.
  • Establish and monitor cash controls.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions-including full and complete monthly reconciliations to achieve desired results.
  • Devise, implement, and modify documents, and coordinate implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Create and review monthly budgets for accuracy; correct discrepancies with managers.
  • Responsible for the bi-weekly posting of payroll; act as primary contact for audits of company accounts.
  • Reconcile financial report discrepancies and problems.
  • Provide training and guidance to new staff accountants to enhance skills and performance.
  • Develop and maintain training modules to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Enforce consistency and uniformity of standard procedures.
  • Oversight of sales tax reporting and regulations.
  • Prepare and review monthly dashboard and ancillary reports.
  • Provide support for external and internal audits.
  • Assist with finance calls, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and project support.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in general ledger accounting, with majority in accounting and financial leadership / supervisory positions preferred.
  • Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Understanding of GAAP guidelines (general accepted accounting principles) as they apply to the position.
  • Quick Books and JD Edwards accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial forecasting and budget analysis with ability to create and maintain effective financial accountability to the company and ownership.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to understand financial analysis.
  • Must have planning, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, time management, supervisory and employee development skills.
  • Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer services skills and an ability to respond to the needs and requests of coworkers and clients.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    This position operates in a professional indoor office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
